Personalities

Intaglios, superior works of art they may be, are still inanimate objects.  They often depict history; have, themselves, taken part in history, but still are, in the end, just lumps of stone.  What gives them life are the personalities who created them, traded them, owned them, wrote about them, and brought value  and recognition to them.

This page is a collection of information about some of the more renowned individuals whose lives have been entwined, in one way or another, with the history of carved gems, intaglios.  It is mainly a listing of names that I have come across during my searches for information in the field. Limited biographical information is provided.  They are set forth as a starting point for further research by interested parties.
